Discover Baek Ban Korean Restaurant (백반)

Baek Ban Korean Restaurant (백반), located at 13934 Metrotech Dr, Chantilly, VA 20151, offers an authentic taste of Korea that truly stands out in the Chantilly area. If you're craving traditional Korean comfort food, you won't find a more welcoming place to experience it. The name "Baek Ban," which refers to the Korean-style meal consisting of rice and an array of side dishes, perfectly captures the essence of the menu here. Each meal is designed to bring you closer to the heart of Korean home-cooked meals.

Walking into Baek Ban, the cozy and inviting atmosphere immediately gives you a sense of comfort. It’s not just a place to eat but a place to savor. Whether you’re here for a quick lunch or a relaxing dinner, you’ll find a variety of dishes that reflect the deep, rich flavors of Korean cuisine. The restaurant strikes a perfect balance between traditional Korean recipes and the need for accessibility in a modern setting.

The menu at Baek Ban Korean Restaurant is a delightful exploration of flavors, but let’s start with the star of the show-the 백반 (Baek Ban). A meal in itself, this dish features perfectly steamed rice paired with an assortment of banchan (side dishes) that are frequently refreshed throughout your meal. The banchan offers a variety of flavors-salty, sweet, spicy, and savory-that make each bite an exciting new experience. You can expect kimchi, pickled vegetables, steamed eggs, and much more, each crafted with care and attention to detail. Many customers rave about the freshness and authenticity of the side dishes, which really set Baek Ban apart from other Korean spots.

If you're in the mood for something heartier, Baek Ban’s BBQ options are also a must-try. The Galbi (grilled short ribs) and Samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) are incredibly popular, and for good reason. The meats are marinated to perfection and grilled right at your table, allowing you to enjoy a hands-on dining experience. The smoky aroma as the meats sizzle on the grill only enhances the anticipation as you prepare your wraps with fresh lettuce, garlic, and ssamjang (a savory dipping sauce). It's the kind of meal where the fun is just as much about the preparation as it is about the eating.

For those who prefer a lighter dish, Baek Ban also offers a selection of soups and stews that warm you from the inside out. The Kimchi Jjigae (kimchi stew) and the Sundubu Jjigae (soft tofu stew) are comforting and flavorful, perfect for a chilly day or when you're craving something soothing yet hearty. These stews are packed with ingredients that add layers of flavor, from the depth of the kimchi to the spice that tingles your taste buds.

The restaurant’s commitment to authenticity is also evident in its use of fresh, high-quality ingredients. Whether it’s the vegetables or the meats, everything feels wholesome and thoughtfully prepared. It's clear that Baek Ban takes pride in offering a true Korean dining experience, not just a meal. The flavors you encounter here reflect years of tradition and dedication to quality.

Baek Ban Korean Restaurant doesn’t just excel in food; it also offers top-notch service. The staff is friendly, attentive, and ready to guide you through the menu if you're new to Korean cuisine. Whether you’re familiar with the flavors or trying Korean food for the first time, they make you feel right at home, ensuring you have a pleasant dining experience.

  • This newly opened self-service Korean restaurant on Metrotech Drive in Chantilly is a fantastic addition to the local dining scene. It offers a homestyle Korean meal in a lively food court like atmosphere. Previously home to a Korean-Chinese restaurant called Lee Hwa, the space retains some charming elements, such as the green-tiled wall. Still, it has been expertly redesigned by removing dividers, creating a more open environment. The menu boasts a wide array of options, each accompanied by side dishes (Banchan) served alongside a main dish on a convenient tray. I tried the Beef Short Rib Soup, which was satisfying and met my expectations, delivering solid flavor at a reasonable price. Overall, this restaurant stands out with its unique ambiance and diverse menu, making it a worthwhile spot to visit.

  • We went to this Korean spot that serves rice meals. I ordered the spicy squid and my husband got the spicy pork. Both were really delicious and came with lots of side dishes. The portions were filling. It’s all self-service, so you order at the counter, they give you a little device that beeps when your food is ready, then you pick it up yourself. After eating, you put your tray on a rack. Simple setup, good food. I'd come back here to try the other dishes

  • The food here is clean, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. The portions are very generous, so even though the price isn’t on the cheaper side, it feels completely worth it. Everything tastes fresh and authentic, with a great variety of side dishes that make the meal feel complete. Since it’s self-service, it’s convenient and casual while still keeping a high-quality dining experience.

  • We decided to try out Baek Ban after seeing a reel on Instagram and we were not disappointed. This restaurant was amazing and the food tasted great! You order on a screen (or in person) and you give your receipt to the staff. They’ll give you a buzzer that will tell you when your foods done. The staff were all Korean aunties too which was a great sign, because I knew the food would be good. The space was large and clean, utensils and water provided for you to get as well. We will definitely be coming again!

  • Tried the new Baek Ban in Chantilly today — really nice experience overall. The set meal comes beautifully arranged with a variety of side dishes, rice, and your main entrée. I ordered the LA galbi and galbi-jjim — both were flavorful and cooked well, though the meat portion was a bit on the smaller side. The side dishes were fresh, balanced, and refilled without hesitation when I asked. Everything tasted homemade, not too salty or oily, which I really liked. The restaurant itself feels clean, modern, and casual — perfect for lunch or dinner with friends or family. Definitely a nice new spot in Chantilly for anyone craving proper Korean comfort food.

  • I recently discovered a new restaurant that I highly recommend! If you're craving delicious, authentic Korean Han Sang (한상) or Baek Ban, you have to check it out! The food is incredible, the prices are very reasonable, and the portions are sure to leave you satisfied. Enjoy your meal! Please note that everything here is self-service.

  • We ordered the spicy pork and the spicy galbi jjim. The food was great. Taste was what we were looking for. Reminds me of old fashion neighborhood restaurants in Korea that do simple straight forward comfort food. The banchan was decent. Nothing mind blowing but solid. The main dishes, spicy pork and spicy galbi, were the real stars. The spicy pork portion was very generous. The spicy galbi was not as large but that is to be expected given the difference in cost of ingredients and the similarities in price. Hard to make those economics work. Definitely will be back.

  • I visited Baekban just before the lunch rush, and it was already busy—clearly a popular spot even though it’s a relatively new restaurant. While the space didn’t feel particularly spotless, I liked that it’s a self-service system so there’s no pressure to leave a tip. The menu offers a nice variety, and the food was mild and well-balanced, making it easy to enjoy without feeling heavy. The squid baekban was flavorful and delicious, but the ox-knee soup didn’t have the chunks of tendon I was expecting, which was a bit disappointing. Prices weren’t the cheapest, but I appreciated that each person gets their own individual set of dishes rather than sharing, which felt more comfortable and personal. Seeing so many small side dishes laid out made the meal feel generous and satisfying.
